This soap originates from Syria, where it continues to be made in the exact same way since its creation centuries ago. The recipe remains unchanged and it somewhat of a secret so this is my interpretation of it based on research. I have kept to the same process and I hope it's pretty close to the original. It has amazing properties and contains only two plant oils.
Aleppo soap can be used daily for washing and shampooing, as a face mask, as shaving cream, and for bathing infants and babies. Laurel oil is an effective cleanser, anti-microbial, antifungal and anti-itching agent which makes it particularly good for sensitive skin, acne, eczema, psoriasis sufferers.
One of the main reasons it's considered special is due to its curing time. A minimum of 6-9 months before use, ideally a year. This helps reduce water content making a firmer, longer lasting bar. To put that into context, usual soap curing time is 6 weeks!
